Father Dominic is the priest and principal of Susannah's school. Father Dominic is a mediator also, so he shares Susannah's ability to see and talk with ghosts. Father Dominic acts as a mentor to Susannah. Throughout the novel, Father Dominic tries to teach Susannah how to take a softer and more sensitive approach in helping ghosts to pass over to the other side.
Because Father Dominic is the only person that knows about Susannah's ability, he is also Susannah's confidante. She is able to confide things in Father Dominic that she cannot share with anyone else. Father D is the one that performs Suze's exorcism so that she can go to the afterworld to save Jesse.
When Father D finds out that Jack is a mediator, he also suggests Suze should act as Jack's mentor. While Father D helps to shape Jack, he thinks it is helpful that Suze, who is closer to Jack's age, also help.
