Who is Armin Hillman from Daniel Half Human and what is their importance?

Armin Hillman is Daniel Kraushaar's best friend. He is the son of a working class man, who is a heavy drinker and abusive father. Armin attends the Christianeum school on scholarship, and like most of his classmates, he joins the Hitler Youth.

Armin's friendship with the Daniel and Miriam endangers his potential advancement in the Hitler Youth, and he is later given an ultimatum that if he wishes to stay in the Hitler Youth, he will have to betray his friends. Armin, however, warns his friends they are in danger before accompanying his superior officers to Daniel's apartment on the night of Kristallnacht. When Daniel encounters Armin years later, however, there is evidence that he went on to join the SS, the branch of the Nazi party responsible for persecuting the Jews.
