Why did Jaime decide to attend Trinity University in the memoir, Dangerous When Wet?

Jamie attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. It was located five hours away from Beaumont. Trinity was a liberal arts college that was known to as the Ivy League of the Southwest. What wasn’t as well known about the college was that it was rumored to be thirty percent gay – something that delighted Jamie. He made some good friends there and drank his way through many of the semesters. He wanted to major in acting but Jean told him not to even think about it. She always insisted that he should be a writer.
