The Dance of the Gods is structured as a mainstream novel, beginning with a prologue that introduces the reader to a story already begun. The Dance of the Gods is a complete story and is the second book of a bigger story told by the entire trilogy of the Circle Trilogy. The prologue is mandatory to establish a drama already begun between the humans and Lilith, the vampire Queen, in Book One of the Trilogy, Morrigan's Cross. There are six major characters of the book who populate the entire trilogy. The Dance of the Gods focuses on two of the major characters; Blair, the demon hunter of the 21st century, and Larkin, the shapeshifter, from the ancient, imaginary world of Geall, a land much like Ireland, where there are castles, dragons and vampires.
