Lone Bear was a Sioux warrior. He was known for going to battle but also for getting wounded. In Chapter 13, he takes part in a major battle between Red Cloud's Sioux forces and the government's men under Colonel Carrington. Lone Bear was one of the few who died from that battle on the Native side. He died an honorable death.
