Crazy Horse and Custer: The Parallel Lives of Two American Warriors is a nonfiction novel. Ambrose does not use symbolism in the text. He does, however, share certain objects that serve as Native American symbols. One example of this is the feathers worn in the warrior's hair. These feather had special meaning and were often worn after a specific event..... like a warrior's first kill.
