Kathleen has a few friends who are mentioned briefly. They were close friends of hers and they blame Kathleen's parents for their separation. In her friends' eyes, Charles and Carolyn Beavier isolated Kathleen from her regular life, friends, and activities after they learned of her pregnancy. In one particularly interesting line, Kathleen's friends (named Francesca, Sara, and Chuck) refer to Kathleen's personal code of honor. They are convinced that she would never tell a lie. Their belief in her lends credit to Kathleen's story.
