Michelle Jessamy entered prison in 1994 after being convicted of manslaughter.
She was born in London, England, has four children, and is currently serving a twenty-year sentence. Michelle has always maintained that her crime was an act in self-defence.

Michelle earned her GED while in prison, and she has since gone on to study algebra, computer technology, and writing. She also works in the prison's counseling program for York's youthful offenders and as a teacher's aide.
