The author of the Conquest of Gaul is Julius Caesar, who in his capacity of Governor of Transalpine Gaul, conducted campaigns in Gaul from 58 BC to 51 BC. It is written in the third person from the point of view of Caesar himself, and the accounts furnish a record of the seven years of campaigns, which were carried out in the name of Rome to suppress rebellions in Gaul and to protect the Roman Province, which had been established along the Mediterranean coast. Caesar's perspective is subjective.
