Adam is a long time farmhand at the Cold Comfort Farm. He is getting up in years but continues to work hard and fulfill his duties. Adam loves caring for the cows, and at the end of the novel, he takes the cows and goes to work for Elfine and her new husband. Elfine has always been the old man's favorite.
