Vincent Hawk is Katrina's other good friend. Vincent is an avid swimmer who hopes to one day represent the Suquamish tribe at the Olympics. Katrina and Vincent have known one another since the fourth grade and are very close. However, as the novel develops, Vincent begins spending time with Heidi Darling, the daughter of Katrina's worst enemy. This becomes a bone of contention between Katrina and Vincent, nearly leading to the destruction of their relationship. However, Katrina eventually sees her mistakes in this argument and asks for forgiveness.
