Aulis is the location of Iphigenia's sacrifice and the port that Agamemnon's army gathers to leave for the Trojan War. Agamemnon lures Clytemnestra and Iphigenia to this location by creating a false wedding for Iphigenia and the hero Achilles. The night of the supposed wedding, Agamemnon ties up Clytemnestra and Iphigenia, and brings Iphigenia to a pyre for a ritual sacrifice. Iphigenia is killed and the navy leaves in the following day.
