Oriel Lamb is the hard-working, diligent, religious, matriarch of the Lamb family. Oriel is married to Lester, she is organized, meticulous, and expects the same of her family. Over the course of the novel, we see Oriel bogged down by life..... she loses her faith in humanity, and in response, she loses herself.
