Arizona represents normality and boredom for Willa. It is a place that she moved to because her husband Peter wanted to. She has no attachment to California aside from the cactus outside her home. Even Peter is rarely home, preferring to golf or take conference calls despite being retired. Arizona is also representative of the easy life for Willa. She could go back and rely on Peter until the day she passes away.
