How did Clayton get involved with train ear and the others

Train Ear is the leader of the Beat Boys; the tallest, eldest, and meanest. Clayton names him Train Ear because he watches him on the subway wait and call out the train. He wears a dirty white tank top with brand new sneakers that are clearly stolen. He runs the Beat Boys through the trains for their performances and dances on the poles while the subway moves. Once Clayton starts playing his blues harp with them, (and Train Ear sees Clayton get a five dollar tip) he convinces Clayton to get off the train with the Beat Boys. Once off the train, he steals Clayton’s money and hat.
