Who is Octavia from Claudius the God and His Wife Messalina and what is their importance?

Octavia is the daughter of Claudius and Messalina. She is born shortly after the birth of their first child, Brittanicus. After Claudius learns of Messalina's infidelities, he suspects that Octavia is not actually his daughter.
