In Chapter Eighteen, Alex and Nadia discuss their visions. During one of Alex's visions, he sees people killing natives, all of whom are wearing masks. Alex says the masks they wear are symbolic of lies, which leads to the realization that the vaccines being used on the native population are tainted.
