What do Fur Coats represent?

The fur coats are symbols of wealth and affluence. Mandy and her sisters made a tradition of making alcohol-laced hot chocolate for the Nantucket Stroll and taking a sip of that drink every time they saw a fur coat. Women used the Stroll as an opportunity to show off their wealth by dressing in their best clothes.
