The Byronic hero is defined by their dark, brooding character. Typically, they are moody are moody and pessimistic, in addition to clever, observant, and arrogant. Byronic heroes are also disillusioned with the society in which they live.

Childe Harold can be seen as the seminal Byronic hero, an elevated Romantic hero, who is moody, tired of his life of wealth and luxury..... bored. As a result, he embarks on his journey as a way to kill the boredom, find adventure, and to find a reason to live..... to find something more. Childe succeeds in finding adventure, as well new and interesting people, but these things fail to end his depression and disengagement. He doesn't find what he seeks, and he never really experiences any kind of change.
