What are the character conflicts?

Readers follow the adventures of protagonists Petra and Calder as they search for the reasons behind the theft of a famous painting by Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer, and also navigate their way through a series of strange, yet somehow meaningful, coincidences. This seems to be a standard man vs man conflict.
