To what extent is the novel a story of the struggle between technology and belief?

I think that the conflict is more with the arrival of white society than technology. The contact between Native American and white cultures in Ceremony is largely destructive. The arrival of white people brought technology which was largely used in a destructive way to indigenous populations.
