Why do Sampson and Pierce travel to Princeton, NJ?

Sampson and Pierce fly to Princeton, NJ to talk with Soneji's grandfather about Soneji and his boyhood. Pierce asks the grandfather questions about Soneji's behavior growing up, and then asks for some shovels because he has a hunch that Soneji has buried a body on the property.
