What is Cross' reaction to his surprise party?

Cross comes home from New York City to find his house full of people. He walks in the door and his children yell, "Surprise, Daddy! Surprise party!" He pretends he is not Alex and asks what is going on, but then joins the fun. He thinks Soneji's death is a good reason for a celebration and a fitting end to a scary time for his family.
