Soneji feels he does not deserve to die and he is filled with rage. He says "someone had to pay" for the fact that he is dying. He feels "an incredible surge of anger" as he springs toward the bed where Goldman is sleeping. He believes his rage is justified, and he takes it out on Goldman by killing him.
