What is the author's tone in the book, Capital in the 21st Century?

Piketty's tone throughout the study is predominantly expository. Sometimes he will use rhetorical questions and humor in order to insert his own personal opinion on the subject at hand, in a way that is unobtrusive to the unfolding of his study.
