Who is Deighton Boyce from Brown Girl, Brownstones?

Deighton Boyce is Selina's father. He is described as a happy man, who enjoyed having fun. What he didn't enjoy was work, thus, he rarely does. When Deighton drowns after jumping ship on the way to Barbados, Selina goes into a deep period of mourning.
