What is the atmosphere in the village of Borg when Britt-Marie arrives in the novel, Britt-Marie Was Here?

Borg was hard hit by a financial crisis, and although the crisis is over, the people are still suffering. All of the businesses in the village with the exception of a pizzeria that serves as a post office, a corner market, a car workshop, and the recreation center, have been closed.
