Notice the poetic repetition of “in came” in the description of Fezziwig’s party. Read this section aloud. Why do you think Dickens chose this type of poetic repetition for this particular passage of description?

Hint: What do the guests DO immediately after this passage? (A Christmas Carol)(Book)

There is a fast paced jovial atmosphere to Fezziwig's party. The description of Fezziwig is one that uses positive words such as laughed, dance and in came". In came in particular is meant for Scrooge to connect with people of the past who he liked and had positive personal connections with: connections he has lost. Dickens is able to juxtapose this with Scrooge's empty life.
