Briefly explain the relationship between Griffen and Kemp.

Kemp isn't a hero any more that Griffin is. Kemp really moves the plot, matching his intelligence with that of Griffin. They are two forces that are seldom in proximity with each other. Kemp is able to prevent Griffin's terror over others in the book.
