Daniel Cleaver is an up and coming young publisher, who is well known for being a playboy. Everywhere he and Bridget went, they would run into women that he'd slept with and didn't remember. Daniel's is characteristically non-committal, unpredictable and would rather fool around than settle down with his women . He is selfish with Bridget and strings her along, letting her believe they have a relationship. By his actions, Daniel is characterized as an amoral individual who slept with his good friend's wife, two weeks after their marriage, and cheating on Bridget.
