How does Mr. Powers' investigation into Claude's past affect Claude?

Mr. Powers' investigation into Claude's past affects Claude in that Claude had been content with his personal history, having the guidance of Mr. Weisfeld who has been a father figure for him. Claude is now forced to face his past and the anonymity of his real father, and demands information about his father from Emma. The situation causes his relationship with his mother and with Al to become strained.
