Who is Inspector Nick Cavuto from Bloodsucking Fiends and what is their importance?

Cavuto is Rivera's partner, a detective investigating the string of murders involving corpses with broken necks and no visible wounds mysteriously drained of blood. Cavuto is gay, and he self-consciously maintains a tough-guy image. He does not want to believe that there are such things as vampires, and he refuses to believe that the evidence points to their existence. After witnessing the Animals attempt to kill the vampire, Cavuto agrees to let Jody and the other vampire escape and report that the murderer was blown up in the explosion. Cavuto and Rivera walk away with a sculpture that is worth a fortune.
