What is an example of the theme of culture clash in the novel, Blood on the River?

In Chapter Seven, one example of culture clash can be found in the English gentlemen's unwillingness to shed their too-hot clothing or deal properly with the weather. As a result, many die unnecessarily before they even reach the James Town settlement.
