In Chapter 24, two settlers return to the settlement with news..... what is the news, and how does Captain Smith react?

One day, Samuel sees two new settlers coming back to the settlement, announcing that they have looted the Indians houses and temples and killed several with muskets. Captain Smith is furious, and sets out to make peace.
