Who is Justine from Blood Rites and what is their importance?

Justine is the girlfriend of Thomas Raith. Justine gives herself to save Thomas, knowing that it will most likely kill her. Justine does not die but is bound to a wheelchair and not completely coherent after the feeding; it appears she will be in this situation permanently. Justine and Thomas were in love and, because of that love, Thomas will never again be able to touch Justine without hurting himself.
