Cynthia Baltres is Anna's best friend from New York. She does not make an appearance in the book, but Anna thinks about her and what Cynthia would do in situations that involve the men in Anna's life. Cynthia is more confident than Anna in matters of the heart and insistent on simply having fun with life.
