What is the purpose of the Ghost Walk?

The ghost represents the guilty conscience of the Leicester family, since she refuses to go away until the family becomes humble. Her presence emphasizes the shallow, self-important attitude of Sir Leicester with regard to his family. Clearly, this attitude has overshadowed goodness and humanity in the family members and the ghost is there to bring them back to some sense of reality.
