Discuss the fact that Dickens' culprit turns out to be Mademoiselle Hortense. Why did he not choose a different character?

Dickens point is that Hortense is a woman scorned, whom everyone knows is the most dangerous kind. She was rejected by Lady Dedlock in favor of Rosa. She is also of foreign descent, which makes her more mysterious and untrustworthy.
