What is the author's style in Big Trouble by Dave Barry?

The novel is written in third person voice, and follows the thoughts and actions of the major characters. The point of view switches very frequently, often jumping to different places, to show the reader what is happening with a different set of characters at the same time. This is an unusual way for a novel to be structured in terms of point of view, but is important to much of the humor in the novel, since many events that occur require several different groups of characters to have contributed something small and seemingly insignificant to a series of events that assumes much greater importance, as with the appearance of both Matt and Andrew at the Herk house the same night as Henry and Leonard appear to assassinate Arthur, and with the arrival of Snake and Eddie at the Jolly Jackal just as Arthur is getting ready to leave with the nuclear weapon.
