Who is Mr. Buxbaum?

Mr. Buxbaum is Liz's father. He is married to Helena in this novel, having met her a year after Liz's mother died. He seems to be kind, and he is annoyed that Liz does not allow Helena to be part of her life. He seems to have no idea that Liz is still grieving so deeply, or that she hates the idea of sharing milestones with Helena. He is the typical, middle-class father who is a good provider but is not overly emotional
