I think how coping with grief manifests itself, especially with adolescents is a question I have. The novel examines how grief is a devastating emotion that continues for a lifetime. Liz Buxbaum is a high school senior whose mother died when Liz was in the fifth grade. Liz has always managed to cope with this grief. Now, she is faced with renewed grief as she reaches milestones, such as leaving for college, without her mom by her side to share the experience.
