What is The Cardinal?

Liz and Wes discuss that a cardinal is the symbol of a dead person returned to comfort those left behind. Bri has never allowed herself to really think about this for fear she will not be able to do anything other than watch for a cardinal that might be her mother. As Liz and Wes visit the cemetery for the last time before leaving for college, they see a cardinal. In this situation, the cardinal gives her comfort.
