Who is Roscoe in Betsey Brown by Ntozake Shange?

Roscoe has dreams of becoming a mechanic and plans to move up in the world by owning a gas station. He and Regina are dating, and Roscoe opening speaks about his desire to marry her. Over the course of the novel, Betsey learns that Regina is expecting a child, and that Roscoe has moved to Chicago. Although Roscoe claims he'll later send for Regina and the baby, Betsey doesn't believe him.
