What kind of dreams does jende have? what happened to them? Do many who immigrate to the US have the same dream?

Jende hopes to improve his family's life, help his family back home, and see to his children's education. He wants to be successful. Over time, however, he loses hope. He is not granted assylum and receives a deportation letter. He loses his job, and in turn, he loses faith in the American Dream.
