Mike Noonan from Bag of Bones is 36 and a noted novelist. He and his wife Johanna own two homes; one in Derry and another lakeside home in Maine called Sara Laughs. His wife dies and it sets him into a tailspin that he might never come out of. Then he meets Kyra, a little toddler who has the same Psi ability that he does (they both have premonitions and can see/speak to the dead). They share a special bond as a result and it is Mike's desire to see Kyra remain safe and happy that causes him to poke around in the mysterious death of the former owner of his home in Maine.
