Who is Commissioner Lin?

Imperial Commissioner of the Emperor Lin Zexu (commonly referred to as Commissioner Lin) is the point of connection between the Emperor and the British merchants in Canton. While Mr. Baylis describes Commissioner Lin as a monster, he is actually a quiet and relatively unassuming man who is aware of the English merchant’s tricks and the dangers of opium. He also clearly values Robin’s opinion and is willing to risk starting a war to destroy the opium and protect his people.
