Babel is a representation of knowledge and the dangers of limiting it to a single place. When looked at literally, the tower’s collapse cripples all of Britain, as its vast stores of silver and greedily documented match-pairs run the country. On a more philosophical level, this shows how the world itself will struggle if knowledge is not freely shared with everyone else. Babel’s unwillingness to help others progress in their language learning and translation efforts stalled much of the world from flourishing. Babel’s destruction sets England back, but it opens the gates for everyone else to become the best they can be.
