On pages 123-128, how is a time-lapse described?

A time-lapse of a million billion flowers is described as a cycle. The flowers open their heads, bow and close their heads again. Then buds become leaves, the leaves fall off and rot, and twigs explode from the ground, which in turn explode into new buds.
