Kettle teaches him an ancient game and challenges him with a version of it. That game keeps Fitz thinking about strategy rather than Skilling, and surprisingly, Nighteyes comes up with the solution. Fitz is not allowed to walk on the road anymore when they resume the traveling, and Fool takes the first walk with him, asking about Kettle's true identity.
