What is comical about Mulch's work while in Fowl Manor?

Mulch eats a lot of earth on his journey to the Manor. Once he arrives on the grounds of the manor, he is then eating soil that had been well aerated. The aeration causes him to have air in his stomach. That air has to be released somehow, and it just so happens that dwarfs release it in the form of gas.
